LITTLE INTERNATIONAL LIVESTOCK SHOW
WHAT IS IT?
The Little International Livestock Show, affectionately referred to as "Little I," is a livestock show that the club hosts for its members every spring semester. Members new and old work together to learn how to train and prepare their animals and themselves for showmanship classes.
WHY DO WE DO IT?
Our club is here primarily to promote animal agriculture and livestock shows are the perfect way to exhibit the care and dedication we put into our animals. For some members, this is the first chance they have to get real, hands-on experience with theses livestock species.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Members are given the opportunity to train and show any or all of 4 species: beef cattle, sheep, pigs, and horses. Every year, we pair up our Pros, who have extensive show experience, with our Novices, who have little to no experience. This ensures that everyone has the opportunity to succeed at the show while maintaining a safe environment for all. The Pros and Novices work together for around a month to halter break and train their animals. All but the horses have not been handled by people other than for necessary medical procedures like vaccinations at this point. We work diligently to get our animals used to being handled and put countless hours in to get them show ready. With the luxury of having our animals on LSU property, members are able to work together out at the farm not only with each other, but also with our livestock unit managers. Little I is a great way for new members to connect with old and for everyone to network within the livestock industry.
